
Level 1-Beginning:
Keyboarding & Basic Computing: Students learn the computer keyboarding basics necessary for today's job market - concentrating on increasing keyboarding speed and proficiency. Basic Computing This is a basic introduction to personal computing, word processing-toolbars and basic formatting, the Internet, and Windows. Students also learn to manage files, folders, and other “plug and play” devices.
Level 2-Advanced:
Microsoft Office: This is a course focusing on typical entry-level business computer applications that focuses on the “big four” of Microsoft Office. Six weeks are spent learning Word and Excel, and one week each on Outlook and Powerpoint.
- Word – Documents, formatting, bullets, charts, tables, graphics: formatting images, drawing, and clip-art; customizing toolbars.
- Powerpoint – creating an electronic presentation: formatting, text options, backgrounds, themes, inserting graphics, slide transitions, templates, organizing slide shows, outlines, handouts, speaker notes, exporting slide show to other programs.
- Outlook – Using the e-mail program in Microsoft Office. Covers setting up accounts, managing options in Outlook, using the calendar, contacts, “To do” lists, and organizing and searching your e-mail.
- Excel - includes entering and editing worksheet information, entering worksheet formulas, formatting numbers and text, creating a chart and formatting a chart.
Home Computer Networking and Troubleshooting: Delves into how a computer works, maintaining an error-free PC experience, and improving your computer with upgrades. In addition, teaching you how to setup your own home network so that you can share information and even the internet!
Level 3-Professional Computing Skills:
Photoshop – Learn the basics of Photoshop, including the workspace, colors, drawing and selection tools, text, creating and working with paths; as well as more advanced topics such as working with layers, masking, filters, resolution, and fixing photographs.
